A Just Harvest has three strategies for ending hunger:
Feeding Hungry People
Our Community Kitchen serves a nutritious dinner 365 days a year to anyone in need, distributes tens of thousands of pounds of food annually, and supplements the nutritional needs of children afterschool & during breaks.
Fighting for a Fair Economy
Northside P.O.W.E.R. (People Organized to Work, Educate and Restore) trains leaders and organizes communities to win public policies that alleviate poverty and hunger and create a more just economy.
Creating Economic Opportunity
The Genesis Project marshals community assets and other resources to create economic development opportunities in Rogers Park. Current projects include an aquaponics social enterprise & a microlending program.
A Just Harvest relies on the generosity of people like you to sustain our work. We welcome your donation, and your gift is tax deductible. Click here to make a secure, online donation. We also welcome food and in-kind donations.
Do you want to serve meals in our Community Kitchen? The Community Kitchen relies upon volunteers to plate, serve and bus tables in our restaurant-style service. For information about volunteering, contact patricia [at] ajustharvest.org.
Do you believe we can create a more just society? Northside P.O.W.E.R. trains people to have a public life - to lead others in the work of holding our elected officials and other decision makers accountable to acting in the broad public interest.
Do you have experience running a small business, financial management or gardening skills? The Genesis Project needs mentors and project volunteers. Current projects include an aquaponics social enterprise and a microlending program.
