Host an Evening

An Invitation to Host a Meal

As most of you know, A Just Harvest is extremely blessed to receive most of it’s food as a donation from our Kitchen Partner organizations.  These organizations - religious congregations, community organizations and businesses – commit to providing enough food to feed 200 patrons for one night each month of the year.  They also bring volunteers to serve.  (There are even a few Kitchen Partners that provide food for 2 nights per month!)

So while a Just Harvest has been blessed with a stable donation of food over the years, this year we’ve struggled to raise enough funds to cover the additional costs of feeding almost 200 people a night.

Beyond the food itself, A Just Harvest must cover many additional costs each night, including:

  • rent (we rent space from Good News Community Church),
  • staff (our professional staff is thoroughly trained in food safety standards),
  • supplies (gloves, hair nets, sanitation supplies, etc…),
  • professional grade equipment (ovens, a walk-in freezer and refrigerator, hot water heater and the like), and
  • insurance (not so glamorous, but still very important!).

These expenses total $849.41 per night.

We’re inviting individuals, congregations, businessess and other organizations to host an evening by making a donation in the amount that covers these costs.  Hosts will be recognized along side our Kitchen Partners with a sign in our dining room and with an announcement during the dinner hour.  If you’d like to host an evening meal, please contact Michaela Lovegood, Director of Resource Development, at 773-292-2297 x33.
